Assembly/Fabrication- Hand and Power Tools
Basic Welding Techniques
- SMAW – Demonstrate the shielded Metal Arc Welding Process
- GMAW – Demonstrate the Gas Metal Arc Welding process.
- FCAW – Demonstrate the flux core welding process.
- GTAW – Demonstrate the gas tungsten arc welding process.
- Structural – Perform a groove weld on ferrous and non-ferrous metals on structural shapes and plate
- RSW – Resistance Spot Welding -Demonstrate the spot welding process. Set up and maintain spot welding equipment
Training Delivery
Sheet Metal Fabrication Training Structure
- 165 hours of instructor-led classroom and sheet metal shop training
- Late afternoon training four days per week, Monday-Thursday 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm
- Instructor-led classroom and shop instruction
- Program Starts Monday, June 17th and ends Wednesday, August 28th, 2024
Training Participant Requirements
Training applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a Massachusetts resident
- Presently be unemployed
- Legally able to work in the United States
- Have state or federal identification
- Be 18 years of age or over
- Provide an updated resume
- Be willing to provide and complete required documentation to the career center staff in a timely fashion
- Complete a brief interview
- Have the ability to attend class in the early evening, Monday-Thursday, four (4)days per week for ten (10) weeks
A strict attendance policy is part of this workforce development training.
Trainee Employment Search Preparation
Trainees will begin job search preparation activities during the second half of their training. This will consist of:
- Working with the career center staff on resume and interview preparation
- Working with the program director and the career center staff on being prepared for job interviews
- Working with training instructors on technical preparation for job interviews
- Doing independent job search activities online and through networking
The program director and career center staff will work with their employer partnerships to assist in providing the program graduates with employment opportunities.
