On September 30, the Healthcare Workforce Partnership of Western Massachusetts, an initiative of the MassHire Hampden County Workforce Board, hosted the annual Pioneer Valley Healthcare Career Pathways Forum at Springfield College. The event brought together approximately 100 high school counselors, career facilitators, educators, healthcare employers, colleges, workforce development organizations, and community partners from across the region.
The forum focused on strengthening pathways into healthcare careers and helping students gain a realistic understanding of the many careers available within the industry — and the education, skills, and experiences needed to succeed. Presentations explored nursing, emergency medical services, volunteer opportunities, and occupational therapy, providing participants with practical information and resources they can bring back to students.
A major focus of the morning was bringing partners together to share resources and develop practical strategies for connecting students with healthcare careers. Facilitated roundtable discussions allowed participants to exchange ideas, identify areas for collaboration, and strengthen connections.
The Healthcare Workforce Partnership looks forward to continuing this work with partners to ensure students have the information, experiences, education, and connections they need to explore and pursue meaningful careers in healthcare.
